Resources for Those Seeking Their Next Career Adventure

Resources for Seeking Jobs and New Careers

Many of our clients ask us about resource materials that may provide career direction.

Here is a list of resources which may help you to better understand your strengths and interests and how these may relate to your choice of career. (Note: these are listed in no particular order)

We'll continue to update this list.  So continue to check back periodically.

1. O Net Interest Profiler – Free of Charge…basically has you answer 60 questions as a guide to finding your career interest. https://www.mynextmove.org/explore/ip

2. StrengthsFinder  2.0  Each copy of the book includes a scratch off passcode that gives you access to the StrengthsFinder 2.0 test. It can only be used once, and the book is a waste without the test. The book itself is largely a description of the  strengths measured by the test. It's a companion to the test and not something you would read on its own, but it does a great job of bringing  the test to life. Amazon Review: The test is worth the price of admission. It's 177 rapid-fire questions that reveal the top five themes, or strengths associated with your personality.

3. The Book –  What Color is My Parachute – It’s been a highly recommended book for job  seekers and those trying to identify viable careers

4. www.eParachute.com   - For a price of $4.99 you can go to this site, sign up and take the “survey”  It will take your information and suggest some careers… (it is related to the book above.) …

5. www.personalitytype.com  - This website belongs to author Paul D. Tieger. His website is basically a teaser to get you to buy his product  ($27).  But prior to that, Paul gives you a free approximate reading of your Myers-Briggs code.

6. John Holland's SDS (Self-Directed Search) http://self-directed-search.com.   This career system for 3 decades has been John Holland's RIASEC system, and its stepchild, your three-letter "Holland Code" which you determine by taking the John Holland's Self-Directed Search instrument.  The online version (http//wwe.self-directed-search.com) which you can take, resulting in a personalized report online, that you can print out (the costs for all is $9.95)
